Layne manages to avoid Rocky but when Layne gets three bullets drilled into him while investigating a dirty cop, he can’t do that because Rocky stops avoiding Layne. They make a deal to work together to expose the dirty cop but they have no idea the strength of their enduring attraction or the sheer evil at work in The ‘Burg.
As Tanner Layne and Raquel Merrick play their game and dance around the pull that draws them together, Layne has to discover the dark secrets buried so deep in Rocky’s heart she doesn’t even know they’re there at the same time untangle a sinister web of crime so abhorrent it has to be stopped… at all costs.
And to do it, Layne has to enlist everyone, including his ex-CIA mentor, Rocky’s detective brother, the town’s unpredictable informant and Layne’s two teenage sons all the while stopping Rocky from doing something crazy and keeping their game secret so Layne won’t get himself dead.
I love Golden Trail by Kristen Ashley because the relationships in this book are developed slowly and are credible and you will love to read about the wonderful relationship between father and sons and between partners Raquel and Tanner.
Always Kristen Ashley, write characters well developed and made their story to feel real and credible. You can always fell how the characters fell in love and you can understand their actions.
Layne knew he was in love with her. Not only that, he’d never stopped loving her. Not once, not for a second, not for twenty-one years.
Usually, I don’t like when the main characters are separated for more than 2-3 years but in this book, Kristen Ashley made their relationship work. I love their story because I felt that they deserve to be together and to be happy. I like the still of writing and I like the way that Kristen Ashley portraits their relationship.
Rocky left Tanner 18 years ago and now they are forced to work together to catch a dirty cop. Tanner accepted to work with Rocky because he still loves her and wants to protect her. Rocky still loves Tanner but she is afraid to make the first step to be together again. Tanner needs her to make the first step because she left him. After they work together on the case, they decided to give each other a second chance. Both are afraid to be hurt again but they know that their love deserves a second chance. They work together to make this relationship last a lifetime.
If you are nothing else in this life, be wise, be compassionate, and be strong because those three are everything.
I love Tanner because he is a great father. He is a father who knows when he is wrong and he wants to have a relationship with his sons Jasper and Tripp. He trusts them and lets them make their own mistakes and when they want his help, he gives them his help. I love his kids Tripp and Jasper because they are such good kids.
I loved this book because is about love, second chance, forgiveness, friendship, and family. I recommend everyone to read this book.
