First and Forever is the second book in the Heartache Duet, and must be read after Heartache and Hope.

There are no more goodnight kisses.
No knocks on windows.
No lengthy text messages.
No late-night phone calls.
And no game day balloons.
There’s just Connor.
And Ava.
Existing in a world filled with nothing but heartache.
While searching the darkness for glimmers of hope.
Because with hope, comes magic.
And magic is forever.

My review

You’ll always be my first love, Ava. Everything else is insignificant.

First and Forever is the second book in the Heartache duet by Jay McLean. Read my review of the first book here.

I loved the first book of this wonderful duet by Jay McLean. The author wrote a perfect duet about first and forever love, about family, and what sacrifices we make for our family.

I don’t think I can be just friends with you Not now. Not when I know what it’s like to have all of you.

Ava and Connor love each other but both of them struggle with their choices. My heart ache for both of them, I feel their love and their longing for each other.

Ava wants to be there for her family and also she wants to be with Connor and to be his girlfriend and to be loved by him.  She can’t stay away from Connor and decided to be together again.  Ava wants to be the perfect girlfriend for Connor and Connor just wants to be with her.

Carry me?

He rears back, his eyes holding mine.

Always, Ava. And I  know what he’s saying without saying it- he’ll not just carry me physically, but metaphorically, too. He’ll carry the heavy weight that comes with all my burdens.

Connor wants to be there for her and make her life easier and to protect her. Connor wants Ava to trust him more. Ava learned in this book to confide more in Connor about her problems and her family. It was beautiful to see them work as a couple.

The main problem with this couple is communication. They keep secrets from each other and they ended hurting each other without meaning it. I wished for them to communicate more about their struggle and their hopes. I wished that Ava have more confidence in herself because Connor adores her.

This duet is about love, family, secrets, friendship, sacrifices, and soul mates. You can feel their love and their joy to be with each other.  Ava and Connor are happy together. Read this duet if you want to feel that soul mates exist.

I recommend everyone to read this beautiful duet because love wins.
