A brand-new standalone novel in the New York Times bestselling Briar U series!
What I learned after last year’s distractions cost my hockey team our entire season? No more screwing up. No more screwing, period. As the new team captain, I need a new philosophy: hockey and school now, women later. Which means that I, Hunter Davenport, am officially going celibate…no matter how hard that makes things.
But there’s nothing in the rulebook that says I can’t be friends with a woman. And I won’t lie—my new classmate Demi Davis is one cool chick. Her smart mouth is hot as hell, and so is the rest of her, but the fact that she’s got a boyfriend eliminates the temptation to touch her.
Except three months into our friendship, Demi is single and looking for a rebound.
And she’s making a play for me.
Avoiding her is impossible. We’re paired up on a yearlong school project, but I’m confident I can resist her. We’d never work, anyway. Our backgrounds are too different, our goals aren’t aligned, and her parents hate my guts.
Hooking up is a very bad idea. Now I just have to convince my body—and my heart.
The Play is the third book in series Briar U by Elle Kennedy. I didn’t read the first two books in the series but I’m thinking to read the books because I loved this book and I want to read more of this series.
The main character, Hunter (aka Monk) is captain of his hockey team and for him, it is important to be a good captain and to be there for his teammates. In the last season, he feels his team lost because of him and his sex life. He made a promise to be celibate for this season. For Hunter, was important to keep his promise and began to focus on hockey and school.
Hunter meets Demi, his new partner to the physicology project and they began an easy friendship. They have fun together and they tease each other. Their banter was hilarious.
Demi (aka Semi), is on a relationship with her long-time boyfriend Nico and for her, this is the year when she decided her career and to find the courage, to tell her parents her decision regarding her career and what she wants to do with her life.
She finds out, that her boyfriend cheats on her and she dumped him. She wants to forget him and she decided to rebound sex and she wants to be with Hunter. At first, Hunter didn’t want to hook up with Demi because they have a great friendship and he likes to spend time with Demi. Demi didn’t want to give up on her idea to have sex with Hunter, so Demi seduced him.
“I’ll kill you if you leave.”
I can’t tell if she’s joking. That’s the problem with being into a child who’s into murders.’
Their relationship is funny and serious and both of them are happy together. In my opinion, they are perfect together because they laugh together, they build each other and they have faith in each other.
It was a wonderful book with beautiful characters and witty-comebacks. I loved everything about this book and I recommend to everyone read this book.
