Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz’s cunning and test the team’s fragile loyalties.
A war will be waged on the city’s dark and twisting streets – a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world.
The duet Six of Crows is perfection. I had this duet on my bookshelf since 2016 and I don’t know why I don’t read this duet sooner. I’m glad that I decided to read this phenomenal duet this year and for me, these two books are my top two books of this year. I loved every word, every action, and every character from this duet. Of course, my favorite character is Kazz and my favorite couple is Kazz and Inej. I don’t have words to say how much I love these two characters. They are everything I want in a couple. They love without words and without touching.
“A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who had become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse.”
“I’m a business man,” he’d told her. “No more, no less.”
“You’re a thief, Kaz.”
“Isn’t that what I just said?”
Kaz the ruthless leader and the most cunning character of the duet Six of Crows. He is so smart. He uses his fears to turn them into strengths. He always has a plan to escape or to gain something. He is diabolic. He will do anything to make things work in his favor. He only cares for money and his only weakness is Inej. He loves her and he will anything for her. He will fight with his own fears to have her beside him. He will give everything. I love Kaz and for me, he is my book boyfriend for this year.
“He needed to tell her…what? That she was lovely and brave and better than anything he deserved. That he was twisted, crooked, wrong, but not so broken that he couldn’t pull himself together into some semblance of a man for her. That without meaning to, he’d begun to lean on her, to look for her, to need her near. He needed to thank her for his new hat.”
Inej, a Suli girl with a painful past and who dreams one day to be free and to be again with her family. She works for Kaz and because of that, she accepted to be part of his crew and because she doesn’t want to be far from Kazz. Kazz become part of her life and of her heart.
Nina, a Grisha who made a mistake, and now she fights to repair her mistake. She become part of Kaz’s Crew repair her mistake and to be free again to return to her home.
“Where do think the money went?” he repeated.
“Guns?” asked Jesper.
“Ships?” queried Inej.
“Bombs?” suggested Wylan.
“Political bribes?” offered Nina. They all looked at Matthias. “This is where you tell us how awful we are,” she whispered.
He shrugged. “They all seem like practical choices.”
Matthias is an honorable man who doesn’t want to be part of Kaz’s Crew. His need for vengeance made him acceptable to be part of this crazy crew. He learned to forgive and to give a second chance and to set aside prejudices. He is a great man with a beautiful soul. He is so different than the other members of Kazz’s crew but somehow he fits perfectly with the crew.
Jesper loves chaos and lives for chaos. He is friendly and funny and he is loyal to Kazz and to the crew. I love his humor.
Wylan is the baby of the crew and he is the only one from the crew who had a privileged life. He is naive of the group and the nerd. He is so naive but he quickly becomes part of this crew.
Every character of the duet Six of Crow was perfect. The world-building was amazing and everything was credible. The relationship between members of this crew was amazing to watch how they grow and change. They protect each other and they don’t let anyone behind. I loved the relationship between Kaz and Inej and for me, they are a couple of the year 2019. The duet Six of Crows is wonderful and I recommend everyone to read this duet. This duet has everything, humor, banter, action, and love. Leigh Bardugo become my new favorite author after I read Six of Crows
