A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.
France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever―and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.
But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is the second book that I read by V. E Schwab and I loved this wonderful story. This is really a story that will not forget and you will fall in love with all the characters, Addie, Henry, and the Darkness.
“You want an ending,” she says. “Then take my life when I am done with it. You can have my soul when I don’t want it anymore.”
Addie LaRue was born in 1961 in the village of Villon, France and she dreamed to see the world and to be more than a wife and to have children. Her parent promised her in marriage and she didn’t want that life so she prayed to Darkness for a miracle. The Darkness answered and she gave her a new life and freedom but her miracle come with conditions and that means no one will ever remember her.
“…it is sad, of course, to forget.
But it is a lonely thing, to be forgotten.
To remember when no one else does.”
Addie lived for 300 years and nobody remembers her but one day she meets Henry, a boy who remembers her and her name. She was happy that someone did remember her and in a way, Henry is her miracle and her gift after 300 years. She enjoyed her life, she had seen the world and she always found a reason to move forward and to continue her journey.
Books, she has found, are a way to live a thousand lives—or to find strength in a very long one.”
Read the story of Addie LaRue and enjoy her journey. Enjoy her complicated relationship with Darkness and her relation with Henry. Addie is fierce and clever because she left her mark in this world and she will remember. For the first time in my life, I think that an open ending is the perfect ending. I recommend to everyone The Invisible Life Of Addie LaRue.
