This #1 New York Times bestseller and deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion.

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life. Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine.

When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world. The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

Stalking the Jack Ripper is the second book that I read by Kerri Maniscalco and is the first book in the series Stalking the Jack Ripper. This is the story of Audrey Rose and Thomas Creswell.

“Roses have both petals and thorns, my dark flower. You needn’t believe something weak because it appears delicate. Show the world your bravery.”

Stalking the Jack Ripper takes place in 1888 in the Victorian Era where the women can’t work and they only had to care of their home and to learn how to be a good wife. But Audrey Rose is very different than other girls and she dreams to become a forensic doctor. She likes to study cadavers and wants to learn more about this profession and for that, she attends her uncle’s classes dresses like a boy. I liked Audrey Rose because she fought for her dreams and she didn’t let her society to define her or what she can do.

“Not having any luck figuring me out, then? Don’t worry, you’ll get better with practice. And, yes”—he grinned wickedly, eyes fixed on his paper—“you’ll still fancy me tomorrow no matter how much you wish otherwise. I’m unpredictable, and you adore it. Just as I cannot wrap my massive brain around the equation of you and yet adore it.”

She meets Thomas ThomasCreswell at her uncle’s place where she studies cadavers and he like Audrey Rose, he is an apprentice at her uncle’s place and he studies to become a forensic doctor. He is very smart and very good at details. Thomas learned to respect a Audrey Rose and to appreciate her intelligence and her ideas.

“Always foster and grow that unquenchable curiosity of yours.” I smiled. That was a promise I fully intended to keep.”

When murders start to plague London Audrey Rose and Thomas worked together to catch the murder and to solve the mystery.  I liked them as a team and I enjoyed their banter.

I liked the sweet romance between Thomas and Audrey Rose. The mystery of the murders was very interesting. Stalking the Jack Ripper was a great start to a series and now I’m reading the second book in the series. I recommend this book if you like to read about crimes and a sweet romance.
