From the New York Times and internationally bestselling authors of the Illuminae Files comes a new science fiction epic . . .
The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the academy would touch . . .
A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm
A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates
A smart-ass tech whiz with the galaxy’s biggest chip on his shoulder
An alien warrior with anger-management issues
A tomboy pilot who’s totally not into him, in case you were wondering
And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem–that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline cases, and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.
NOBODY PANIC.
MY REVIEW
Aurora Rising is the first book in the series The Aurora Cycle by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I decided to read Aurora Rising because I saw this book on bookstagram. I really liked the story and world-building of these authors.
Know the way. Show that way. Go the way.
Aurora Rising is the story of Aurora, the girl out of time who wakes up in a very different world than her own world and she doesn’t anything about this new world and why she was saved by Tyler. She discovered that she had some strange powers and she doesn’t know what to do with her powers.
“But, sometimes you just gotta have faith”
Tyler is the leader of the squad and, he always followed the rules but, this time he felt that he felt that he had to help Aurora and find more about her mission in his world. Her squad is formed from Kal, an alien with incredible power, Scarlet, the Face of the squad, Zila Madran are Brains of the squad, Finnian maintenance guy, and Cat who all ready to follow Tyler and to trust him to make the right decision.
“I didn’t know Syldrathi blushed with their ears,” Tyler muses.
“I am not blushing.”
“I mean, it kinda looks like you’re blushing.”
“I am not blushing.”
“Ooookay,” Tyler nods.
“I sometimes have that effect on people, is all.” “Is your request not to punch you still in effect, sir?
They want to know more about Aurora’s secrets and how the secrets can affect their world and their people. Their journey is full of action, danger, and discoveries. I loved the characters from this book, their banter, and how much they trust each other and support each other. I recommend to everyone this book who loves sci-fi stories.
